Land at Bristol Road, Downend

Mac Mic is presenting proposals for a sustainable new development at land north of Downend Road and east of A38 Bristol Road, for up to 400 new homes, including at least 30% affordable homes alongside retail facilities and over half of the site as green space.

The site is well located within easy reach of the facilities and services in Puriton, including shops, a primary school, a post office and sports facilities, and benefits from strong connections to the wider area via the A38, A39 and M5. Future residents would be able to enjoy and contribute to vitality of everyday facilities in the local area through increased patronage.

The site is also within close proximity to a significant number of existing and new employment opportunities, including within 2 miles of the 4,000 new jobs being created at Gravity Enterprise Zone.

As well as a mix of family and affordable homes to meet the local needs, the vision includes a new commercial hub adjacent to the A38 which could  provide space for a shop, café, leisure space or co-working facilities, subject to demand.

A defining feature of the emerging vision is the significant provision of green and open space across the site, accounting for 54.5% of the site area, incorporating a variety of walking routes, habitat corridors, as well as allotments, orchards and a central play area.

We would welcome comments on the emerging vision for the site. You can provide comments by visiting our feedback page.
